MAN WITH THE IRON NECK
WRITTEN BY URSULA YOVICH, BASED ON AN ORIGINAL CONCEPT BY JOSH BOND
More than a theatre show, Man With The Iron Neck tackled the growing rate of suicide amongst young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
The production achieved critically-acclaimed presentations as Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane and Adelaide festivals through 2018 and 2019, and was nominated for the Helpmann Award for Best Physical Theatre.
Plans to tour the production to regional centres - including a revived tour featuring Christine Anu - were severely and repeatedly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures.
Man With The Iron Neck was supported by the Indigenous Languages and Arts Program, the New South Wales Government through Create NSW and the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and the Balnaves Foundation. The Balunu Foundation partnered with Legs to provide healing workshops accompanying the performance.
