STORYTELLING THROUGH PHYSICALITY
Immerse in the art of physical expression, exploring the intricacies of crafting narratives through movement

During this workshop, students will delve into the process of physical dramaturgy, where theoretical concepts are put into practice to deepen their understanding of physical storytelling. Through practical exercises, students will have the opportunity to create stories from scratch or adapt existing narratives, discovering the power of physicality in conveying emotion and meaning on stage.
Students uncover the interconnectedness of multidisciplinary arts, examining how physicality intersects with other elements of theatre making. They will not only learn established techniques and approaches, but also be encouraged to build on these to develop their own practice.
From exploring metaphorical gestures to experimenting with subverted and abstracted movements, students will gain valuable insights into the diverse ways movement can shape theatrical performances and convey meaning to audiences.

WORKSHOP INCLUDES:
an intensive industry standard warm-up.
games and activities designed to deepen understanding of metaphorical, subverted, and abstracted movement.
an in-depth dive into narrative building, either using provided material or building upon pre-existing scene work, as participants bring stories to life through physical exploration.
wind down with a gentle warm-down routine.
sharing of findings through a debrief, offering students the opportunity to offer insights and ask questions.
optional conversation regarding the live performance industry, physical performance sector and career pathways.
